CITY & GUILDS which was established in 1878 (over 125 years ago) has been conducting International Examinations which are globally accepted and recognized. The specific purpose of the CITY & GUILDS examinations are to encourage , assess and recognize the achievement of individual business and the community and to provide service to customers which is second to none.
CITY & GUILDS is U.K.'s best known awarding body for a wide range of vocational qualifications and is known and respected within the industry and the field of education throughout the world. The CITY & GUILDS qualifications are offered in over 135 countries and their qualifications confirm knowledge and skills against internationally recognized standards. Their certificates are accepted throughout the world as evidence of achievement and are highly valued.
CITY & GUILDS develops and administers assessments leading to the award of vocational and general qualifications. It provides certification at various levels - CERTIFICATE, DIPLOMA and ADVANCED DIPLOMA and the examinations offered by CITY & GUILDS can be taken at an approved examination centre.
In Mumbai, the examinations for CITY & GUILDS are conducted at RBCS which is a CITY & GUILDS APPROVED EXAMINATION CENTRE. The examinations are held in June & December and to register for the June examinations , students have to enrol before 1st March and for the December examinations before 1st September of every year whereas the Food and Beverage Service examinations are held in June and November each year. |

Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries and few careers today can offer as much variety, excitement and excellent prospects as a career in the Tourism Industry.
The President of WTTC has also mentioned during a session of the World Economic Forum held in December 1998 that the potential of the Travel and Tourism Industry in India if translated into actual exports will grow from the prevailing 23000 Crore Rupees to over 160,000 Crore Rupees by the year 2010. This would amount to over 12% of India’s total exports in the coming decade.
In a news report, official estimates suggest that domestic passenger traffic at the five major International Airports and the Domestic Airports has grown by 12.7 percent during April-June 2000-2001 and International traffic has also registered a growth of 9.4 percent for the same period.
Even Tour Operators seem to be doing a lot better and are optimistic of further growth in the coming years. The growth in Tourism will encourage further employment in the Tourism Sector and keeping this in mind, IHCTM has devised a unique six months Diploma Course in Tourism and Destination Management.

Introduction
World Tourism Organisation (WTO) forecasts in Tourism Vision 2020 that the international tourist arrivals would reach 1.6 billion by 2020. WTTC forecasts that travel and tourism in India will grow at the rate of 8.4% per annum.
With the advent of CRS and e-ticketing, the focus of the travel industry has shifted from airlines to the tourism industry which offers a variety of exciting career opportunities today. The Conde Nast Traveller magazine from UK recently ranked India among the top 10 tourism destinations. Needless to say there is a lot of potential for tourism in India and the job market is set to grow. Keeping these facts in mind IHCTM has introduced this unique course to prepare candidates for the tourism industry.
The Diploma Course in Tourism and Destination Management is a comprehensive course, which gives students in-depth knowledge of the practical working of the tourism industry. On successful completion of this course students can also opt to appear for international examinations on payment of the applicable registration fees and Rs. 3000/- towards additional training and exam practice. The participant can appear for either the Diploma in International Tourism from City & Guilds, U.K. OR Career Award in Travel & Tourism from Cambridge International Examinations, U.K. Both these qualifications are valid in over 135 countries around the world. |

The examination comprises of the three papers viz. Tourism Industry, Customer Service and Marketing and Travel Organisation. On successful completion of each paper the participants will receive a certificate for that paper. On completion of all three papers participants receive a Diploma in Tourism and Destination Management from IHCTM.
The course also offers a unique opportunity of optional training with stipend at Compact Travels Pvt Ltd for minimum 3 months This gives the students a chance not only to gain practical experience but also an opportunity to earn back the course fees. |
