He looks in your face with love, asks your birth date and sees location of stars to tell you what is likely but don't be frightened or overjoyed as he confides your karma and other people's help can change the shape of things for better or may be worse too. 

Lastly, besides his 35 years study, experience, and expertise in astrology he also uses his great intuition to give spontaneous accurate predictions. OT takes you to Bejan for adding “Jaan” to your mind and life!

Tell us about your early life and family background?

I was born on 11th of July 1931. My father Jehangirji, was the highest paid man in the whole of India in the weaving department, and he was the weaving master of 7 mills. And at that time Ahmedabad and not Mumbai was the Manchester of India. 

He was a dictator. I don't blame him because at that time the conditions were where labourers had to be controlled. He was also a great big game hunter. He would ask for the rifle to be brought especially for him from England and America. He was a great cook, he was great in his job but in the house he was a terror, very powerful, also a wrestler and so strong man that he could bend a one rupee coin. So in one way I feared him but I admired him also. Because he was a big game hunter and I hated this so I became non-violent and quiet. 

He was a powerful man, so I knew what power was, but I became a different sort of a person. I am not in the power game but I am into healing. In life whatever I have achieved I am thankful to my father, as in his own way he was a great man and his influence was always there. 

I also feel that Astrology is very exciting, I have seen two people both very good and nice, but they cannot get along. Even they admitted that each is good but there is no chemistry. So Astrology is also about, chemistry and you may call it stars but the meaning is same. All these are vibrations. That's how life is. Take example of the man called Hitler, he could kill so many people and yet he could eat food, he could love his wife Eva. So what is the mystery “Yeh Kya Hai ?” On one side he was a perfect devil and on the other side he loved and married Eva and he was also a vegetarian, isn’t it confusing. But Hitler was a historical force, just as Gandhi for the good and I think these great forces are born under the great conjunctions of Sun and Mars or of Sun and Venus, when these great conjunctions happen these historical figures of men, of destiny are born. My minute observation of life and people encouraged me to look for relationship between Astrology and life and human behaviour. 

How did you enter this field?

We call Astrology as Jyotish, “Jyot” - means light and “ish” means god. One may believe in Ganesha, Hanuman, or in Allah, but any sort of prayer that gives a totally extra dimension. Intuition also comes into prayer, and this extra engine of religiosity or spirituality is what makes Indian astrologers great. I remember, at the age of 5, the convent schoolgirls used to ask me to tell whether they would pass in Matric or not. Why convent schoolgirls should ask a 5 year old boy and that means there must be something intrinsic in me as in our Hindi we say “Kuch To Dam Hoga !” When I grew up I pursued study of this great Vidya and keep on learning and practising it even till today!

I will mention one of my earliest forecast. When, Morarji was axed in Kamraj plan, Shantibhai Shah of Gujarat Samachar who knew my father took me to meet him in Ahmedabad.I was able to tell him “Sir, you would be Deputy P.M.” and he became. 

How do planets influence our life and why?

Nobody really knows it, if you go to other astrologers they will try to give you scientific proof, magnetism, vibrations. So whether it is magnetism or vibrations but the influence they do. It is scientific fact of cause and effect

What are the various schools or systems of Astrology, how do they differ? 

There are two main schools - Indian and Western, Indian is by moon and western by sun, but western is ahead by 23', western astrology is very good in depiction of character, because they believe in psychology, psychiatry and not only in astrology. The Indians are not good in this, they believe in predictions, I combine both but at times I take one more than other. 

What is horoscope? Can it be called as Horrorscope?

Horoscope is the map of heavens, giving positions of planets. But the real thing is, the interrelation of planets to each other so Horoscope can be horrorscope. For example Hitler had horrorscope and Mussollini had horrorscope and there was a man called Krepen, who is supposed to be great rapist, so also Jack the Ripper - all these people are born and they have horrorscope. 

Some times puja works, I have seen barren women getting children, but at times it fails, so I tell clients very seriously that there is no guarantee. If you want to take a chance, take a chance, many times it fails and many times it works.I also do puja, of course I don't take money when I do. Astrology like everything in life is adventure and not a complete guarantee, you cannot trust it. Even the best of astrology is 70 to 80 % correct, not even 90% but it may go to 60% or less also. Some people offer prayers, others do meditations. Up to a certain point we can change the future.

What are Talisman?

There is a book in the market called Talisman, this is the Talisman of the Jewish people anybody can have a look. In the book there are paper talisman. On this paper Talisman, I do pujas mainly of Hindus, Parsee and little bit of Muslim. I combine the three and give it as a gift. 

How do you place yourself in the field of astrology?

There are three to four very great Astrologers in India. Vashishta Mehta a very great man, and other one is Mohan Patel. There is a lady Gayatri Devi. All three are very great - it means that they are even superior to me. But my speciality is that, I am the most popular and secondly by the grace of Ganesha my predictions come true. Nobody else has predicted Tsunami or about Pope's death. These predictions are there on printed-paper in my 2004 astrology book, I also predicted about Tendulkar and Amitabh. That does not mean I am a good predictor but I have good knowledge. 

Is it good to probe future?

No, Not always. Though I am an astrologer I openly admit that. I am supposed to be India's most popular astrologer, T.V. personality, I write books, but I am such a coward. I tell other astrologers that if your fees is Rs. five thousand, I will pay you ten thousand, on one condition that tell only good things about me, not the bad things. This is paradox; here is an astrologer who practises and predicts the problems of others and yet he does not want to hear anything bad. 

How can astrology be challenging as a career? What qualities are necessary to become a good astrologer?

There is one Tendulkar, there is one Gavaskar' likewise everybody cannot become expert in his field. To become successful you have to have experience, intuition, knowledge, skills but the best thing is that you must have the capacity to tear the veil of the future, this capacity is rare, not every body has the capacity. One may be a sportsman, one may be an actor, one may be a painter, one may be a poet, and one may be an astrologer. By studying one can know, but it is one thing to be a good astrologer but totally different to be a great astrologer.

Tell us about Bejan Daruwalla as an Individual” and as an “Astrologer”?

Soft, sentimental and lover of human beings 
and I enjoy laughing. For example I like to laugh so I see cartoons too. They make us laugh. As an Astrologer: thanks to Ganesha, Hanuman, most of the times predictions come correct. You may call it faith, coincidence, or chance. 

Tell us about some of your elite clients?

I have great clients, they are all very fantastic. I cannot name them all, as there are many editors and well-known people. I can tell you about some, I was the Astrologer of Premnath, he was a very nice man but he was fond of alcohol and I was teetotaler, then he used to tease me as “Bejan you are Jaandar Be - Daruwalla”. Thanks to him, that I met Ram Krishan Bajaj and became his astrologer. I met Dhirubhai Ambani, I told him, he would do well, these are my words: “You are big and you will be great” on 7 May 1999 I told him that it may take 5 years to recovery and so he should safeguard his health. He lived for the next 5 year and then he died, I have predicted his success as well as his death.

2. Shah Rukh Khan: This Scorpio actor may have poor health starting 2001, operations too. The friend of all he is his own enemy. That's destiny! Except health, he will have it all.
3. Amitabh Bachan: His period of joy starts from June 2000 and in 2001 itself will be a proverbial cornucopia of plenty. In family drama he will make his mark, steal the thunder and slice critics into silence!
4. Narmada Waters: The life-giving waters of the Narmada relieved the misery of people in Bhuj and Ahmedabad, in May 2003. Our Bejan, who hails from Bharuch, was invited there on December 5, 1998, and had promised in the name of Lord Ganesha that the release of the Narmada waters would not be stopped- Should our Bejan, therefore, change his surname from Daruwalla to Paniwalla?
5. Pope: Pope in Rome has exceptionally poor health and could well go to his Heavenly Father's abode. I am writing this on May 28, 2003. The above predictions hold good for the period up to October 26, 2005.
6.Sachin Tendulkar: Taurean Tendulkar will be on mighty sticky wicket till April 21, 2001. After that he will again bloom, blast, bash the world's best to kingdom come. Yes, the man is an all time great. 2003 will be simply awesome for cricket.

Power of Conjunctions 
Like people countries are ruled by certain signs, Germany is ruled by Aries and Scorpio, so when Hitler came into power, the whole country must have been under horrible conjunction. Similarly, India is ruled by Capricorn. I just wrote an article, I predicted the death of Pope. It was also through power of Intuition. I had given the reason that because Saturn the spiritualist is in the Virgin Virgo. Such is the power of conjunctions!

At the age of 73 still I do research on why it happens. I am sometimes surprised that two people, very fantastic and different - one is born on May 18 - the Pope and the other one Jonathan Russell is also born on May 18, he did not believe in god, so these are great questions. Jonathan Russell said a great sentence, 

“I don't know whether god is there or not, but I have come to this ordinary conclusion that the only important thing in life is “Goodness” and both were May 18, one gigantic philosopher and other a poor man, both agreed on one thing i.e. “Goodness”. 

Research on dice
I have done some research on dice. Our former Prime Minister Vajpayee, I have met him by invitation, frankly speaking Vajpayee doesn't know his birth time. So Indian astrologers play games by giving different birth time, fair enough, I don't blame them. I made him throw the dice and he is number seven, living at “seven” race course, I met him in July which is “seven” month, I am a “Cancer” again, he threw number seven. So I told him your number is seven. I told him three things-sir you are basically a decent man for a politician - that shocked him, no one called him decent, they called him great, smart. Secondly you are Capricorn, because India is ruled by Capricorn, you will do something great for the country. Thirdly, I played a trick, I caught his knee and suddenly looked in his eyes and said “Are we fair to the Muslims”, he was shocked and he said “no”. Then I said, Sir,” I respect you”. He was helpless for Muslims, whose fault it is. From that day I respect him and I said to him “thank you for calling me”, but in return he said “thanks for coming”. In the land of astrologer when he said “thanks for coming” this little incident is very touching. I want them to take help of Vajpayee for anything connected to foreign affairs, but I was able to predict his victory and also his downfall. I had said women will rule, I told him sir you should take care of knees and he had operations. After that I have not met him again. This is a request to other astrologers, unless you are called don't go to meet rich and famous celebrity or they will not respect you, it is always good to keep distance from politicians and policemen.

Bejan cares and Daruwalla dares 
Siddharth Kak has produced a great TV show called “Surabhi” and now he is producing another one about “ Strange Psychic Experiences” and he approached me. I think that also should be very exciting. I don't like interesting work but exciting one because in one word it is a “Challenge”. Many times I say” Bejan cares and Daruwalla dares”, these two things caring and daring are associated with me.

Bejan's professional aide! 
It is said that” behind every successful person, there is a woman”. In case of Bejan it is his P.A. cum secretary cum companion and caretaker- Tehmi.
Bejan's day begins with Tehmi's smiling entry, she does all his work like typing, giving appointments, arranging the schedules for whole day, accompanying him on outside assignments, entering contracts. Thus she is real support in his day-to-day activities.

There is common bond between Bejan and Tehmi-both are mad food eaters, happy and always full of laughter. Though Tehmi is a woman she fixes TV, Refrigerators, Radio, Telephone instantly. This is a great advantage for what Bejan can't do, is done instantly by Tehmi. In Bejan's words “she is perfect and she is my life and support”.

Tehmi's daughters are also so versatile like her, one is working as a stunt actress in film industry. She had worked in films like Veer Zaara, Chehra.The other one is very active, she makes sugar free as well as regular chocolates at affordable rates. 

Daily free meals for the poor, an old age home, a community marriage hall for the villagers, and forty rooms where devotees can stay, all these are planned in land spread over 2 acres. The temple is 2 and a half kilometers from Shirdi in Kankuri village.

Ganesha's latest on India and Pakistan 
Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan and Manmohan Singh of India - They are also nicely balanced as Pervez is Leo and our Manmohan is Libra. Leo means fire and Libra means water so they are together. But there is a remarkable thing, Sun of Pervez and Venus of Manmohan are in the exact degree and so it is compatible and I have proved it. I feel that there will be danger to the life of Pervez in next three years, I tell Ganesha, Allah may I go wrong and I will be happy if I go wrong I have limited ability, thanks to Ganesha, as I am a human being, I have accuracy of 80%and not 100%, but here I feel that Pervez is good for India. Forget Kargil, that was then and this is now and I also feel that there is a strong possibility of peace.
