All about dry and wet waste !
As per BMC guidelines residents of Mumbai are required to separate the wet and the dry waste. Many people do not know the difference between the two so here is all about it.

WHAT IS DRY AND WHAT IS WET?
A simpler way of understanding is that Wet Waste is all that comes from nature vegetables, fruits, flowers, shells of eggs and coconuts, and food leftovers like bones, meat, fish, bread etc. All else is which is processed and made by man are Dry Waste- These include things made from paper like newspapers, cartons, boxes, glass items and metal like bulbs, tube lights, bottles, nails, cans; plastic items such as milk-bags, soap wrappers, pouches, toothpaste and other tubes; and some other items like wood, battery cells, diapers, rags, thermocole etc as well as Computer floppies, printer cartridge, CDs, tapes etc. Wet waste can be decomposed within 24 to 48 hours into organic fertilizer. While dry waste does not decompose and remains for long. So it has to be disposed off by BMC.

What a single tree does for us!

Before you cut a tree see what a single tree does for us!. A tree that lives for 50 years generates Rs. 5.3 lakhs worth of all-important oxygen;  Recycles Rs.6.4 lakhs worth of fertility and soil erosion control; Creates Rs10.5 lakhs of shelte for birds and animals. plus, it provides flowers, fruits and lumber. So when you cut down a tree, the city loses something worth lakhs! Think. And plant trees wherever space allows.
