Popular Places....Unusual Attractions BRIDGE CLIMB Australia

When you are doing Australia the “COMPACT TRAVELS” way you will be dealing with Aussie Specialists who would know how to best cater to individual preferences. In this month's issue of “popular places unusual attractions” we shall visit New South Wales Australia. Sydney - sunny and sophisticated, basks in its worldwide recognition as the shining star of the Southern Hemisphere.

Sydney offers world-class dining, shopping, museums, events, beaches (The famous Bondi beach) national parks Sydney is surrounded on three sides by beautiful national parks which offer the opportunity for great bush walking and wildlife spotting. Sydney also sports the most stunning harbour - Darling harbour a modern waterside venue which offers a great selection of Marina-side restaurants and entertainment venues.

One can also take excursions from Sydney to The Blue Mountains - 90 minutes west of Sydney lies a spectacular world heritage listed wilderness area of sheer sandstone cliffs and canyons, dense eucalyptus forests and waterfalls. One can enjoy activities such as abseiling, canyoning, bushwalking, rock climbing, clifftop Harley Davidson rides, golfing or just relax in the fresh mountain air. The Hunter Valley - 2 hours north of Sydney is Australia's oldest wine producing area. Activities in this area are as varied as hot air ballooning, cycling and golfing.

Home to a wide range of native Australian wildlife from brightly coloured parrots to possums and kangaroos - it is a haven for horse riders, bush walkers, campus and 4 WD touring.

The unusual yet a must-visit attraction of Sydney is THE BRIDGE CLIMB. BridgeClimb is a 3½ hour adventure and an experience that will never be forgotten, on one of the world's most modern wonders … The Sydney Harbour Bridge. 134 metres above sea level one can climb during the day, twilight or at night. Sure one can catch an elevator to the top of a building and see a view… but to experience climbing to the top is something so completely different. You will never forget your first BridgeClimb, and it is an achievement you will always be proud of.

BridgeClimb is a small-group adventure where you are escorted by trained Climb Leaders as you make your way to the summit. The BridgeClimb experience begins with a comprehensive briefing and safety demonstration to prepare you for the Climb. Every climber will need to pass an alcohol breath test before being allowed to climb. All climbers are provided with a Bridge suit , Bridge lamp at night, lockers, communication equipment, Bridge harness linked to a static line throughout the climb. Your climb will start from the pylon and out onto the catwalk above water. Grasp the spectacular view as you climb the eastern arch on your way to the summit.

At this point Climbers not only have a birds eye view of the beautiful Sydney Harbour and city, but also have the exhilaration of a truly rewarding experience of reaching the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. After enjoying your moment of glory and capturing it in a photograph with a backdrop of Sydney Opera you start your journey back along the western arch. The BridgeClimb has been done by some famous Royals and Celebrities like Prince Fredrik, Princess Mary of Denmark, Kylie Minogue, Matt Damon, Hugo Weaving, Sarah Ferguson, Cathy Freeman.

You will agree, its not wrong to say : “The Sydney Harbour Bridgeclimb is one of the most popular activities in the city - and rightfully so!".
