From digression to definiteness

Our national pastime is going on and on with words. This becomes easy through digression or beating around the bush instead of beating the bush. The whole art of politics is based on diversity of views - that is agree to disagree.

The scene is no different in board meetings. It is much the same at seminars. The entire exercise or total effort is devoted to talking about the whole truth without reaching the “truth”. In social life too the topics are so chosen that ball is kept on rolling to eternity like rotation of earth. The only difference is earth has regular movement around its single “axis” in specific fashion where as the social talks have multiple “axes”.

This funny phenomenon starts from the early age at home. The growing sibling sees people around going round and round in their communication game with no obvious or definite objective. From home to college canteen or the “nukkad” of the lane the method does not change. There used to be a time when people had to be prodded or prompted to break the ice. The times have changed, everyone is ready with an avalanche of iceberg, so one has to take turns in digressing. May we pause, ponder and speak only to answers or contribute a definite view point rather than indulge in merry murmur to no avail. Surely this will save a lot of energy and time which can be harnessed to better use contributing not only to individual growth but also the good of humanity at large.
