Damage through Computer

It's great to be computer savvy, it's greater to have computer at your work desk in office or even at home! It sounds greatest and go on doing something or the other - surfing the net or sending e-mails!

But stop …..? Here is a word of warning! The so called greatest thing you are proud of can be the worst practice and obstructing your great potential for progress. Whether you accept or not, sitting in front of computer is a very subtle addiction - though unnoticed by the addict and even justified and defended when discussed about. I have seen evan graphic artists fiddling with commands playing around with same design in the name of creativity! An average design of ad or selecting type face which could be done in just a few minutes stretches to an hour or even hours, resulting in rushing through to complete other creative work for the day! It is a situation of self- inflicted tension.
In an office in the garb of checking emails, one tends to spend not minutes but hours getting hooked to going through junk mail !!
Of course there are a few smart persons who would spend just necessary time on computers. Some are so good that the moment they sit at a computer, they can draft dynamic letters and even key in master piece articles. But barring these 5% sensible people, 95% of people whether office staff or students ruin their life. Some even get involved for the rest of their lives through chatroom venture.

So what is the solution?
The solution is simpler than the problem. All one needs is to develop extra awareness of what one is doing at the computer. Here are a few hot tips :

1. Stop putting on a computer for the whole day-just as you enter your work place or your home.

2. Have a day's plan clearly written in your “day's plan” diary or note book specifying the nature of work to be done on the computer and the approximate time required. Such a plan should be prepared preferably at the end of previous day.
3. Write the time when you start using your computer for a particular purpose and glance at the watch to check that you've taken just required time without stretching unnecessarily.
4. One of the bright ideas would be to check your e-mails in the second part of the day, so that you have the earlier part of the day for your non-computer assignments else they will hang on your head.
5. Delegate some of your computer related simpler work to some one else.
6. Make a habit of putting off the computer. In case a commonly shared printer is connected to your CPU, at least switch off the monitor.
7. Keep a day off from touching the computer

Remember many children have been turned into “couch potato” and “dumb” individuals due to encouraging small kids to spend time watching TV, likewise many adults will turn into mechanical beings or robots with damaged or degenerated brains in case computer is allowed to control their activities and keep them occupied for the whole day. So stop using your computer for better part of the day so that you can use your super computer, like - wise keep kids off TV excepting for an hour or so a day! It's better to be safe than sorry, isn't it?
