Our International Achievers

IHCTM has the distinction of attracting students from around the globe for international qualifications. Last month we featured Ms.Jocelyn Kouassi who had come all the way from Abidjan - Ivory Coast to do value-added courses for make a career in the Airline industry.

This month we feature two sisters - Kiyomi and Aster from Kuwait. They come from an upper middle class traditional Goan family - their father worked hard to carve a great future for 3 girls Svitlaya, Aster, Kiyomi. The eldest chose medicine and completed her MBBS while the other two wanted to do graduation and some international qualifications to enter the Airline industry.

Kiyomi is the youngest of them all and action oriented. Her hobbies are reading, making friends, listening to music, seeing places. She is an experimentalist by temperament and outspoken too. Besides she is good at dancing - both ballroom as well as salsa. She relishes all the delicacies from any type of cuisine while Aster is quite opposite - sober yet observant and quite discreet ready to take any responsibility. Her hobbies are reading, music and gardening. Thus she is her own self and does things at her own pace. While on her job, she is most diligent and quite an extrovert to get the things done.

Kiyomi and Aster wanted to make a career in Airlines. So their mother Graca Gomes surfed the website for the best IATA training both in travel as well as in cargo field. She narrowed her choice to IHCTM as it is the only IATA Authorised training centre to offer all the 7 qualifications from IATA,- four in Travel (IATA/UFTAA) and 3 in Cargo (IATA/FIATA). No other authorised training centre in India or even globally has this entire range available.

Aster would have chosen to do law but she knew it would be a cumbersome and a long journey. She was inspired to change her mind when her sister joined for the Airline courses at IHCTM.

First Kiyomi started, she came to Mumbai in 2003 to do her IATA/UFTAA Foundation and Consultant courses in Travel and thereafter the IATA/FIATA Introductory and Dangerous goods courses in Cargo. Her sister Aster followed her in 2004. Aster did all these courses on a fast track as she had already completed her graduation. She was attending simultaneously for both IATA/UFTAA and IATA/FIATA programmes. She completed all her 4 qualifications in a record time of just 9 months instead of a normal duration of 2 years. Aster went to Kuwait and she joined Qatar Airways in Reservations and thereafter she got her break in National Aviation Services (NAS) as a Documentation Assistant and was promoted as a Load Sheeter earning a plum pay packet.

Kiyomi had just completed her F.Y. when she joined these courses so she would appear for one exam every 6 months. She has completed all her 4 levels in 2005 and she has already left for Kuwait in July as a job was awaiting her, the moment she landed. Both these girls Kiyomi and Aster are career conscious but a greater role was played by parents in helping them to decide a futuristic career as well as exploring to select the right institute where their career dream could definitely come true.

We wish the young girls a great future in aviation industry. We are sure their story will inspire our youngsters to follow similar plan and instead of blowing money in going abroad, they would do their international qualifications here for even foreign students come to India for these qualifications and benefit.
