In 1948 after the partition, a small group of teachers who hailed
from D J Sind College in Karachi and were displaced because of the
partition came together with a vision the educational
rehabilitation of the Sindhi community. And so Jai Hind college
was born. They didn't even have a place initially to start a
college and conducted classes at Elphinstone College. From this
humble beginning, Jai Hind college has now blossomed into one of
the premier educational institutions in Mumbai.
Jai Hind College is located at Churchgate just near the railway
station and thus it is easily accessible even for students living
in the suburbs. The college is affiliated to the University of
Mumbai. It offers courses in arts, science and commerce at the
junior college level and at the degree college level, along with
BMS, BMM and BBI. For Science students, there are vocational
