Managing Moods Through Mind

 

 

 

Most of us go in high spirits, at least occasionally. That's great! But many experience downswing and that too quite frequently to put them in low spirits. It's for turning around such moods that we must start managing moods before they cloud our life to make it appear a dark shadow.

 

Getting used to the downside of thinking is so subtle that one is caught unawares. It's this unawareness that allows our down spirits advance like a tide. We must tide over such situations by putting a stop the very moment the down feelings start. Haven't we seen tides being stopped from invading the shores with the help of blocks or even a wall? Similarly we need to block our down moods using our “awareness” as a wall. Just as waves recede or return on striking a wall, likewise we can reverse our mood by turning the same energy to solutions. It may be by talking out to others for guidance or help. Thus outcome is that the gravity of situation becomes diluted or lighter helping us towards the next step of action for solution or alternatives. The best one achieves is changing from a confused state of mind to a state of clarity.

 

The great advantage of this approach of acceptance has many benefits. Firstly, we remain alert enough to use our mind clearly instead of being pulled down by situations. Secondly, it helps us to keep our energies undiminished. Thirdly, our neutral state of mind enhances our energy level to resolve the situation. Thus you can manage your moods by use of mind. The 3 key words are (1) STOP worrying (2) ACCEPT the situation (3) UTILIZE energy saved from worrying and instead work towards finding a definite solution.

 

These are easy steps “to Manage Moods through OWN mind”. All one needs is to start understanding and moving in THIS direction. And lastly all good things are easy but they appear hard for they are done for the first time, and by doing them as a practice, they become our “natural” easy routine. So let's begin managing our moods through our mind by modifying our reaction through awareness and action thus driving away the blues.
