Holiday Hair

Limit damage by carefully preparing your hair

Visit your hairdresser. Book an appointment for a trim. Hair that's in a good shape will be easier to style while you're away. If you normally have a complicated care regime, choose a new low-maintenance cut or ask your stylist for time saving tips on how to make your style more manageable while you're away.

Add moisture. Make sure your hair is in optimum condition by treating it to a succession of weekly intensive masks. Longer and colour treated hair is more susceptible to damage so for best results, choose a variant that specifically meets your hairs needs.

WHAT TO TAKE

Sun, sea and salt can all take their toll on your hair's condition. Keep yours in tiptop shape by packing the following:

  • Specially formulated hair care ranges will help deep cleanse hair of chlorine, salt and sand, while adding moisture and protection.

  • Double up protection by wearing a hat or scarf while you're in the sun.

  • Lavish sun stressed hair with plenty of intensive conditioners to avoid dry, dull locks.

  • Whether your hair is short or long, dress it up for evening with accessories.

  • To scoop hair up during the day, choose fabric bands to avoid snagging and breakage.

  • The latest travel appliances are so dinky that they can fit in the palm of your hand. If your hair is long or thick, check that they have enough power to dry your hair quickly. If you can't bear the thought of leaving all your attachments behind be strict. Chances are you won't have the time or the inclination for creating intricate dos.

  • High humidity turns natural curls and waves to frizz in seconds. Apply plenty of serum to help control hair while adding shine.

  • Gel is great for keeping hair in place during the day and creating sleek dos for the night.

  • If your hair is crying out for attention, try a leave-in conditioner for a quick moisture fix.
  •

    DON'T FORGET….

  • Work with your hair. High heat and humidity tends to coax hair back to its natural state. Don't waste valuable holiday time straightening curly hair leave it natural.

  • After swimming rinse your hair immediately. Chlorinated and salt water leads to colour fade and dry, dull hair.

  • Don't forget to apply a UV protector regularly to your hair and scalp. UV rays steal hair of its natural moisture and result in colour fade too.
