The Hassaram Rijhumal College of Commerce and Economics is one of the top Commerce and Management Colleges in Mumbai. The College was started in 1960 and is affiliated to the Mumbai University. The college was given an A level accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2002. HR College offers courses leading to HSC, B.Com in various subjects, M.Com, BMS and a PhD in Business Policy and Administration. It also offers career-oriented programmes in the areas of Advertising, Sales Promotion and Sales Management, Tourism and Travel Management and Tax Procedures and Practices. The strength of HR college is its excellent faculty led by Principal Dr. Indu Shahani.

The college has always been committed to the pursuit of academic excellence and has produced excellent results over the years. The well equipped library, techno-savvy classrooms, state of the art computer labs provide a stimulating atmosphere for study and research. The college also provides opportunities such as the Career Orientation Programme for SYJC students, the Grade Improvement Programme, Public Speaking Workshops, Communication Skills Workshops, Computer Workshops etc The college has strong corporate affiliations and so many students of this college have been recruited by top companies like Citibank, the Oberoi group, Arthur Anderson, ICICI, etc. These corporates also conduct guest lectures and other programmes from time to time. The college also has collaborations with Universities all over the world, as a result of which students and staff have the opportunity to acquire international experience.

 

HR College also provides the students with ample opportunities for creative expression and displaying their talents. There are a variety of clubs like the Rotaract Club of HR, the Dramatic Society, Srishti - the Creative Club, NSS, Marathi Wangmay Mandal, Hindi Sahitya Parishad, French Club, etc. The Council for Handling and Organizing Inter Collegiate Events (CHOICE) and GEMS organise various fests. Some of these are the Talent Parade with dance, music, etc, the HR carnival for welcoming freshers, the Bazaar, and all these are very popular. HR College also encourages student participation in sports like badminton, cricket, football, chess, skating, swimming, judo and even water polo. Various competitions spanning a variety of activities and the `days' celebrated in college are other exciting events in an HR student's itinerary. SIP- Students' Independent Projects is a welfare community started by college going students who have come together for students' interaction aimed at development and growth.
