Enthusiasm! Nothing great was ever accomplished without enthusiasm! Enthusiasm is the difference between merely completing, or winning ! If you want to be enthusiastic, you've got to act enthusiastic !
Enthusiasm has almost become a clich้. We have ceased to really look at what enthusiasm is all about. But first, let's talk about what enthusiasm is NOT !
What it is NOT ! Enthusiasm has nothing to do with jumping up and down, whopping, hollering, shouting, back slapping or hand grabbing. This exuberance is short lived and cannot last. Now there is nothing wrong with being excited, but hysteria is giving enthusiasm a bad reputation. Even the best conditioned person in the world cannot sustain excitement for an extended period. |

Enthusiasm is an outward expression of your feelings. This has nothing to do with being loud or boisterous, rather it means a willingness to exhibit positive feelings. This can range from a simple smile to a shout of joy.
Can We Develop Enthusiasm ? I am convinced that enthusiasm can and must be developed. But can I be more enthusiastic about my job? Answer : An enthusiastic YES ! If you can understand the A A formula, then you can develop enthusiasm towards almost anything.
Awareness: Why are you reading this article? Why are you going to work tomorrow? Why are you involved in the activities in which you are involved ? The answer to these questions is your REASON, PURPOSE, or CAUSE. And if you really want to understand motivation, here is the key. Having a reason, purpose or cause is the strangest form of motivation.

This simply means getting more information or education. Many times we are least enthusiastic about things we know the least about. Knowledge not only helps us to develop enthusiasm, but it also eliminates the great immobilizers: FEAR, DOUBT and WORRY.
Remember when you decided to call for that first date? As you approached the phone your strength began to ebb. You could'nt have lifted the receiver with a crane. Then one day you made the plunge. The more often you called, the better you got, until one day someone finally said YES! You learned that you could eliminate fear, doubt and worry and succeed ! Interest leads to involvement, and ivolvement leads to education.

Action: One of the most powerful statements you will ever hear is this one: Logic will not change an emotion, but ACTION will ! Picture yourself in bed on a cold morning, warmly snuggled under the blankets, when suddenly the opportunity clock (some folks call it the alarm clock) sounds. You turn it off, and when the cold air hits your elbow you realize that the rest of you is much better off under those warm covers. One of the hardest decisions you make is to take that first step. You rationalize, discuss, ligicalize, argue and do everything possible to slow down the process, and then you take action. Once you set the wheels in motion, things begin to happen.

This same principle applies to many of the repetitious chores and tasks we do everyday. It is true: Successful people make a habit of taking action on things that unsuccessful procrastinate acting upon !

Can You Develop Enthusiasm? If you will ask yourself some specific questions: What am I doing here? Where do I want to be in 5 years? Is what I am doing today taking me in that direction?

If you look for ways to develop an interest in some aspects of the less motivating areas of your life, get involved in the educational process by associating with positive people who are enthusiastic, read enthusiastic books, and develop the desire to learn as much as possible about those areas of concern and if you will take action on education that you gather, then you will become enthusiastic ! And enthusiasm really is the magic - NO, a logical and realistic ingredient in your success recipe !
