IHCTM brings VA-1 & VA-2 courses to India

VA-1 and VA-2 Fares and Ticketing courses are for students who wish to learn the latest in Fares and Ticketing jointly developed by one of the world's major airlines and fastest growing international carrier VIRGIN ATLANTIC AIRWAYS along with the Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC). Both these courses are IATA accredited qualifications and on successful completion of examination you will be eligible for certification jointly issued by VIRGIN ATLANTIC along with GMTC

Examination: Each level requires you to score 85% to pass the examination and be eligible for the certificate from VIRGIN ATLANTIC

On successful completion of VA-1 you will be able to:

On successful completion of VA-2 you will be able to: 

1. Define IATA geographical areas , Global Routing Indicators

2. Interpret various airline coding system including airline, cities, airports, countries and currency coding system.

3. Identify differing fare types and their characteristics

4. Select the lowest applicable fare for point to point itineraries with reference to fare rules

5. Calculate fares applying the fundamental principles of the mileage system for One Way and Return Normal Fares including EMS and EMA.

6. Construct fares using NUCs and the IATA Rates of Exchange for a range of currencies

7. Issue single and conjunction tickets manually for normal and special fares to IATA standards including Children and Infant Fares, Special Fares PEX, APEX, Excursion

8. Interpret automated tickets including E-Tickets, ATBs, OPTAT/TAT and manual tickets and be able to find relevant information for Normal and Special Fares

9. Complete MPDs/MCOs for airport ticket issue.

10. Use the PAT (Passenger Air Tariff) as a reference source. 

11. Have an overview of special services e.g. Special Meals, Unaccompanied Minors, Meet and Assist, etc. 

12. Get an overview of Excess Baggage as well as taxes, fees and charges applicable to air travel


VA-1 helps you in acquiring practical skills involved in planning, quoting and booking of flights
1. Plan and book more complex travel arrangements, including: 
a. Pricing Unit principles, One Way & Return Sub-Journey Checks 
b. Calculate fares applying HIPs, CTM Check and Backhaul Check, including exceptions and Secondary Level Fares
c. Construct Special/ Normal fares with Surface Sectors, Normal Open Jaws, Side Trips and Stopover Charges 
d. Assess multi-sector fares for itineraries containing Mixed Classes 
2. Get an overview of Add-on fares as well as lowest combination principles
Kindly note that VA-2 course can be done  on completing VA-1 course or IATA/UFTAA Foundation Course.

CERTIFICATIONS

Certificates will be issued to students on successful completion of each level. These certificates feature both the Virgin Atlantic Airways and the Guild of Travel Management Companies logos. Certificates carry the signature of the Secretary General of GBTC and of Richard Branson of Virgin Atlantic.
