Prestigious Licentiateship awarded for the first time in India.

Sunita Motwani Makhija, Director of the Schnell Hans International chain of beauty schools and salons in Mumbai, India, has been recently conferred the prestigious Licentiateship in HairDressing that now entitles her to use the letters "LCGI" against her name.

 

Sunita is the first and only person in India to be awarded the Licentiateship and joins the select few as this- just about a dozen or so people from around the world in the last few years and the only person outside the UK in the last three years - to have been awarded the Licentiateship in Hairdressing.

The Licentiateship is a Senior Award of City & Guilds in recognition of work related qualifications and achievements at a managerial level. Sunita's varied suite of international qualifications, 15 years of experience, as well as various pioneering efforts in the field, made her eligible to qualify for the Licentiateship.

Sunita holds a number of international qualifications in beauty & hairdressing from renowned schools such as 'Vidal Sassoon', 'Morriss Masterclass' ,'Complections International' , 'Toni & Guy' ,'City & Guilds International' and 'Alan'd'. In fact, she has been acclaimed by the press as 'India's Youngest Accomplished Beautician.'

Sunita is also a beauty journalist and writes regularly for a host of newspapers and magazins including 'The Times of India', 'Indian Express','Femina', and 'Allure' and is also on the editorial panel of the magazines 'Style','Speak-Salon & Spa' and 'Opportunities Today'.

 

She also holds the distinction of being the only non-medica delegate at the World Congress on Aesthetic & Restorative Surgery in February 2001 where she presented a paper on 'The Role of a Beauty Aesthetician in Cosmetic Surgery'. She has also been recently features in the book 'Business@Home' by Dr. Vaijayanti Pandit, Deputy Secretary - Indian Merchant's Chamber, which is a case study of successful business entrepreneurship.

Sunita is a true entrepreneur, constantly keeps abreast of latest developments and technology in the field and also holds to her credit the introduction in India of various news innovations in the field of beauty and hairdressing.

Sunita's 'Schnell Hans International' branch also holds the distinction of being the First Authorised Training centre of City & Guilds to have been appointed in India. The centre has been training and providing beauty, hair and nail treatments for over three decades, having been started by Sunita's Mother Romila Shyam Motwani.
